PLAGIARISM
We are talk about now it's all about plagiarism in the Philippines, the 5 cases of plagiarism in the Philippines.
So first of all is the case of Sen. Tito Sotto’s RH speeches.
Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Tuesday continued to deny allegations of plagiarism, almost six years after he was accused of copying from the late US Sen. Robert Kennedy for a speech.
In September 2012, Sotto was accused of lifting portions of a Kennedy speech in 1966 when he delivered the final part of his opposition to the RH bill in Filipino. The late senator's daughter, Kerry, demanded a public apology from Sotto.
Second, is the Orange and Lemon "Pinoy ako"
A few weeks ago, there were news reports that the Orange and Lemons hit is a rip-off from a foreign group. A Manila Bulletin report on the issue carried the denial of band member Clem who said that "Pinoy Ako" is different from the song "Chandelier," an original song of the UK-based 80's band The Care.
Third, is Pia Cayetano faces plagiarism case
Like Sotto, Sen Pia Cayetano – incidentally one of his critics – is formally accused of plagiarism after an ethics complaint was filed against her on Wednesday, November 21.Cayetano has aggressively pushed for the RH bill, while Sotto has opposed it. Plagiarism is one of the issues raised alongside debates on the bill.
Fourth, Associate Justice Mariano DEL Castillo's Rehashed Decision
The accusation: In July 2010, Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo was the subject of an exposé done by Newsbreak. They alleged that numerous parts of Del Castillo’s decision on the case involving World War II comfort women were copied from three materials written by legal experts abroad and that the said authors were not properly attributed.
Lastly, Manuel "Manny" V. Pangilinan's Secondhand Spiels
The accusation: In April 2010, businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan tendered his irrevocable resignation as chair of the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) board of trustees after it was found that portions of the commencement speeches that he delivered at the school’s graduation rites in March that year were copied from the speeches of celebrities like J.K. Rowling, Oprah Winfrey, Barack Obama, and Conan O’Brien. To be fair, Pangilinan was not directly at fault. His speechwriters were responsible for the plagiarism.
